Re: activate Gophone 25c per minute per use online from abroad

Hi @liranbel!

I can certainly help you out with that! What a great question! Are you currently traveling abroad and wanting to use your phone? Where are you currently traveling?

At the moment, GoPhone services can only be used internationally in Mexico and Canada. If you are planning on traveling to the US, you can activate the service once you are on the AT&T network.

You can check out GoPhone plans through the website and see what best fits your needs.

Take care and have an awesome week!

Hi, paolo.
Thank you for contacting AT&T about unlocking your mobile device.

We can't complete your request at this time because the device hasn't had active paid service for at least six months.

For more information about unlocking a device, check out our device unlock support page.

i was assured by Redwood City CA AT&T dealer (Spring Mobile) that i could have it working in Italy after unlocking it.

any idea?
thx

3rd party unlocking service. Google "IMEI unlock". Prices run from $5 to $99, depending on the device and the provider. I had good luck with one of the cheaper ones.

Refill expiration

I activated a Go Phone for my son in August 2015. It had an expiration of August 2016. I just refilled $25, which was added into a rollover of $98 (He only has the phone for emergencies.) and it gave me an expiration of November 2016, rather than August 2017. I guess I just assumed that the minutes would expire one year from now as they did at the time I purchased the phone.

Can you please explain to me why there is such a short expiration date? I'll keep adding money to keep the phone activated, and it will keep rolling over minutes if I have to refill this phone every few months! Is there a way to extend the activation period until next August?

Thank you for your kind assistance!

Options for... FREE 2G GoPhone Replacement Upgrade

When renewing my GoPhone minutes recently, a message indicated that the 2G network (which my phone is on apparently) will no longer be in operation as of December 31, 2016; it provided two choices, go to an AT&T company store or call 866-650-1836.  I called that number in the morning yesterday, was told that I have a $50 credit for a replacement phone (no iphone), was presented various phone choices, and was specifically told that I could use the money I had in my account for minutes to purchase the phone (I have a few hundred $$ in there).  I needed to review the phone choices, so I said I'd call back.  I called back later on with two phone choices and was told that I cannot use my account minutes balance to pay for any difference.  I then called my local AT&T company store, and they were 100% worthless as far as knowledge; offered me 1 phone as a free replacement.  Rather unprofessional, the lack of knowledge and misinformation.

Are they allowing people to use their minute balance money to cover any differences in price for the upgraded phone? Thank you in advance.

Hi

Your device is asking for a Mep code meaning it's locked to AT&T's network and needs to be unlocked before it can be used with any other service provider. There is an automated process for that, as long as the unlock requirements are met and AT&T has the code. Please go here to review the instructions and submit your request:

Thanks,

Re: Can I transfer sim card to new phone?

I have an iPhone 6s Plus through att. About a month ago I decided to switch carriers and got a new phone through the new carrier. I still owe money on the iPhone however. Would I be able to sell the iPhone to someone who already has att? Or will it be locked to my account considering there is an outstanding balance? Didn't know if they would just be able to switch out the sim cards from their phone to the iPhone and continue service. Any help would be appreciated! Smiley Happy

If you didn't pay off ATT, the phone will remain locked to ATT.  You can sell it as locked.  It would be usable on ATT or Cricket only.

Is my account expired?

I haven't renewed my plan in over 60 days. From my knowledge, my account should've expired, but I'm still able to log in under my number. It seems as if 611 will allow me to renew my rate plan also. So is my account active or inactive? I just want to make sure before I try to renew my plan.

Hi @Firebox!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums! Thank you for posting your question regarding the audio issue you are experiencing. I know you have a lot of lakes in Michigan but I doubt you are trying to talk on the phone and swim at the same time! Smiley Very Happy

Does this happen when you are using a headset as well? What about when you are on speaker phone? It definitely is a hardware issue with the phone and the device will likely need to be replaced.

You can perform basic troubleshooting steps by using our AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool available online. Make sure that your device’s brand name and model is selected. Select “Audio” under “Select a Device-Related Issue”.

If the phone is less than a year old, you can replace it under warranty. For more instructions on this, go to https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1045078.

If the phone is more than one year old, do you have insurance? For information on exchanging your device through insurance, go to https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1000580.

I hope this helps! Thank you for joining the AT&T Community Forums!

OK what I did, was call the phone number you get when checking your messages.  There should be a message from AT&T about the change to 3G/4G and your old phone not working.

In that message or a second message there should be an offer for you to get a new flip phone for free, or get credit $50 towards a smartphone (non-Iphone).

I called that number, and asked if I could use my money balance for my minutes as I had over $400 in my balance, they then checked and said yes.

So the number you should call is the one offering that upgrade.  You can only get that deal using that phone number.  I don't know what it is anymore, as I have deleted those messages since I have already upgraded.

Hope that helps you

No.  You must have a minimum postpaid account to get a discount.

Hi @RobertdaRobert!

I definitely apologize for the miscommunication regarding that 2G to 3G switch offer that is currently in place until December 31, 2016. I will be more than happy to go over the few options you have available to you in getting a new phone!

You have your choice of any of the following options keeping in mind that these offers are good while supplies last:

  • You are only eligible to take advantage of this offer one time.
  • Eligibility:
    • Anyone who receives the SMS and/or who has the campaign listed in their myATT/KIC Care account.
    • No payment requirement with this campaign.
    • You may not order more than one device.
    • If you do not have the campaign in your myATT/KIC Care account, you are not eligible for the offer.
  • All offers receive free standard shipping.

  • Offer 1 (Smartphone):
  1. Free 4G LTE ZTE Maven
  • Offer 2 (Basic Phone):
  1. Free ZTE Z223
  • Offer 3 (Select Devices):
    • Up to $50 off any of the following devices:
      • Motorola E
      • ASUS ZenFone 2E
      • ZTE ZMAX 2
      • Samsung Galaxy Express Prime
      • Samsung Galaxy Express 3
      • Override price to be $50 less than posted price (e.g., Motorola E is $59.99 - $50, final price is $9.99 plus taxes and fees).
      • No cash back. If the device selected is $39.99, you do not receive a credit/refund of the difference.

The funds that you have in your account can only be used for either your calling plan or your account minutes.

You can learn more at AT&T 2G network shutdown.

Let us know how it goes! You can make these changes by either going into any AT&T Corporate store location or calling 1-866-650-1836.
