Once the number is not active, you will not be able to know your number. On top of that, if you want to keep your number, you need to have the number active, which mean, it cannot be out of service. The way to port your number over to another carrier is when your number is still active, then you go to the other carrier, and let them know about your phone number, your account number, and your pin number. Then they will be able to. At this point, I don't see why you will need to know that number any more since is no longer active.
