Hi out there! So I recently decided to switch from a regular AT&T postpaid plan (450 minutes, 2GBs of data, unlimited texts for $90~ a month) to a GoPhone plan. After doing some research and chatting with an AT&T rep online, I went ahead and ordered a GoPhone SIM card, because I was under the impression that was what I'd need to do. So I get the GoPhone SIM, I go online to activate it, get assigned a new number (but DON'T pay for a plan), but I didn't swap them out of my phone because I was told by another online rep that I'd need to go into an AT&T shop to have my current phone number moved to the new SIM. So I went in today to have that done, and the sales guy switches my plan from the regular postpaid to the GoPhone on my pre-existing SIM card. The new one wasn't necessary. It's set up now and seems to be working fine.
My concern now is that when I log on to my plan, everything online has been switched to the GoPhone site - I have no way to see my entire previous history of billing, calls, etc. associated with my old plan. I had already turned off AutoPay for the old plan, but it'd be nice to have a confirmation that it's settled. Is it officially cancelled? Will I be billed for the 20 or so days I was still using it before switching to the GoPhone today?
Secondly, now I have this brand new, unused but activated SIM card with a number assigned to it. My understanding is that if you don't pay for a plan for it within 60 (or 30?) days, it will become deactivated. Should I do anything else with it?
Thanks to anyone for your help! This whole process was surprisingly confusing, but hopefully will be worth it in the end!
